ACE ethanol plant members join letter calling on President to stand strong in RFS defense

All ethanol plant members of the American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) joined other biofuel manufacturing plants across the country in a letter to President Donald Trump today urging him to stand strong in defense of the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS). Excerpts from the letter found below.
“There is no way to cut, cap, or eliminate RINs without cutting, capping, or eliminating gallons of homegrown fuel. Any price cap scheme would require regulators to offer fake RINs or waivers. These gimmicks would eliminate market access for higher ethanol blends, and they are deal-killers for rural America.
“A true win-win proposal would lift summertime restrictions on the sales of 15 percent ethanol blends. This minor change would support growth on all sides, generate a new supply of RINs, and ease pressure on refiners. But this proposal holds no value if it becomes tied to destructive RIN caps that eliminate market access for biofuels.
“The jobs we create allow more than 200 biofuel plants to serve as economic anchors across the heartland, helping to revitalize the rural economy. These communities overwhelmingly voted for elected leaders, like yourself, who support the RFS and understand the importance of maintaining America’s leadership in biofuel production.
“We ask that you send a clear and final signal that this administration will no longer entertain misleading schemes designed to kill the RFS.”

The Carlyle Group loaded PES with debt to pad their own pockets, but other refiners are flourishing under the RFS. A cap on RINs would only benefit a few investors at the expense of rural families across the heartland.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) can act now to lift needless summer-time restrictions on sales of fuel blended with 15 percent ethanol (E15). Cutting the Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) regulations would promote growth on all sides while generating a new supply of Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs) to dramatically ease prices for refiners. That’s the kind of win-win solution that will protect American jobs.
